Meeting Reports More than fifty members of LIEVT attended the first meeting of 2008 which was held at the Elmont Fire District on Thursday, February7. The President, Steve Velazquez, opened the meeting after the attendees enjoyed an excellent dinner. The chefs’ hats were certainly deserved. Steve talked to the members about training days that could be held at Kussmaul Electronics and at the Centereach Fire Dept. The dates of the upcoming EVT tests and training have not been announced but will be posted on the website www.lievt.org as soon as they are scheduled. Our member, Chris Lo Preto, who is a college instructor in his spare time will conduct the training. The members learned that the new pump house in Suffolk at Yaphank should be finished sometime in the late summer. The members have been hoping for this for a long time.

Meeting Reports The regular meeting of the Long Island Emergency Vehicle Technicians was held on Thursday, November 15 at the Bay Shore Fire Department. Fifty members were in attendance and all enjoyed an excellent dinner – the LIEVT chefs’ hats were presented to the hosts.

President Steve Velazquez opened the meeting with a pledge to the flag. He expressed his interest in drawing from the membership talent to provide training and classes for the group. He asked any member who was interested to contact him and discuss their area of expertise. Steve also talked about membership cards, shirts and jackets and asked Nate Berry to make several versions of the LIEVT logo available for review by the members. Paul Sailon, the treasurer, gave his report and reminded the members that some dues were long overdue.
