The regular meeting of the LONG ISLAND EMERGENCY VEHICLE TECHNICIANS was held on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at the Centereach Fire District. An excellent dinner was served to the forty some attendees and the volunteers at Centereach certainly deserved the LIEVT chefs’ hats they were presented with.

Kit brought a copy of an old awards dinner program from 1999 to the last meeting which I scanned to share. The pamphlet has a picture of the Fire Mechanics as gathered in 1985 to form the group which was then officially known as "Fire Mechanics District Society of New York". When this group started the process for non-profit status, the name was changed to reflect the fact that the member mechanics are EVTs which has a broader scope than the term "Fire Mechanic". Hopefully Chris will be able to find the original image for us someday! Its only a short little pamphlet, but its a little piece of history.
