Meeting Reports The regular meeting of the LONG ISLAND EMERGENCY VEHICLE TECHNICIANS was held on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the West Hempstead Fire Department. This was the meeting where our members were encouraged to bring the personal bikes and vehicles they were working on. The vehicles they brought were works of art. The weather was excellent and everyone enjoyed an excellent barbeque as they admired and discussed the vehicles.

When that was finished, our president, Bill D’Alessandro introduced Victor Fuhrman of Awisco Corp. He and his two assistants, Michelle Grace and Dani Epstein, talked about welding and the products available at Awisco. The members were able to weld at the “Hands On” demonstration in the garage. It was overseen by Victor Fuhrman who described and commented on everything that was being done.

We then went upstairs to the meeting room. Our president led the Pledge to the Flag. Kit read the minutes of the May 10 meeting at the Centereach Fire District which were approved and accepted.

The treasurer, Barbara Connelly, encouraged the members to check if their dues were paid and thanked the members in good standing. Shirts with the new logo were distributed. There will be more for future meetings.

Bill D’Alessandro talked about the full day class to be held at Kussmaul Electronics on Tuesday, July 21. The class will begin at 9 AM – the day will include lunch and a tour of the plant. Kussmaul is located at 170 Cherry Ave in West Sayville.

Victor Fuhrman made a presentation on the Awisco products – he conducted a Q & A and gave excellent rewards to the members with the correct answers. He also provided great giveaways for our raffle.

Bill D’Alessandro gave each of the three cooks an LIEVT chefs hat.

He presented a framed certificate to Victor as well as one to the West Hempstead Board of Fire Commissioners which was accepted by Commissioner Ken Brohm.
