Meeting Reports

On October 26, 2016 and organizational meeting was held at the West Hempstead Fire Department. The president, Bill D’Alessandro opened the meeting and led a pledge to the flag. He asked Kit to read the minutes from the last meeting at Wantagh. The minutes were accepted as read.

The vice-president. Danny Peluso, talked about the technical advances in today’s vehicles . When the first computer was introduced in vehicles in the 80s, he was lucky enough to be training as a technician and was introduced to the technology early on. Multi-plexing is something that all EVT techs should be familiar with. All vehicle electronics are going in this direction. EVT techs cannot afford to ignore it.

Starting in January, Danny would like to have six meetings and hands on training awareness including air brakes, hydraulics and pressure governors. Barbara talked about the difficulty of getting good speakers on training.

The treasurer, Barbara Connolly, announced that we have 134 members. She talked about our Facebook page growing outside of Long Island. Danny has been posting things on Facebook. Barbara will add the Facebook link on the next notice to the members.

There was a long discussion on what kind of speakers our members would like to have at future meetings. The annual dues will remain at $50.00

The regular meeting of LIEVT was held at the Wantagh Fire Department on Thursday, June 30, 2016. An excellent barbeque was done by the members of Wantagh. Ferrara Fire Apparatus provided the provisions which included sliced steak, hamburgers, franks, sausages and salads. The attendees were made to feel welcome by the Commissioners and members of Wantagh. Ed The cooks were presented with our new embroidered Chefs’ hats.

The regular meeting of LIEVT was held at the Westbury Fire Department on May 12, 2016. An excellent dinner was served. The forty plus attendees were made to feel welcome by the members of Westbury Water and Fire District.
