Meeting Reports LIEVT had the first regular meeting of the year at the Copiague Fire District on Thursday, January 14. More than fifty members were in attendance. They enjoyed an excellent dinner and dessert – they were presented with chefs’ hats.

The speaker, Ray Smeriglio of Eastern Fire Equipment Services, was not able to stay for the entire meeting so the president, Bill D’Alessandro, opened the meeting with a pledge to the flag and a moment of silence for our departed members and the troops overseas. He introduced Ray Smeriglio who demonstrated the Cutters Edge tool. Most of our members are familiar with Cutters Edge – they were very interested to hear about the maintenance and care of this fire and rescue saw. They learned that the factory provides a good deal of service to the end users. Bill presented the speaker with a framed certificate in appreciation of his presentation.

Our treasurer, Barbara Connelly, gave him an LIEVT winter hat.

The president continued on with the regular meeting. He asked Kit to read lthe minutes of the November 5 meeting at the Selden Fire Department which were accepted as read.

Barbara brought jackets for the paid up members. They had given their sizes at the last meeting – they were delivered with the LIEVT logo and their names. It was a tremendous job – we are more than thankful to Barbara for all her work. She talked about the 2016 dues notices which had been emailed to the members. Flyers were distributed announcing classes by Ferrara and Specialty Vehicles in East Farmingdale. Their class on liquid springs will be held on Wednesday, Jan 20. RSVP to Bob O’Neill @516-349-7770.

Bart said he is working on a date for Fire Research to hold a class.

The president presented a framed certificate of appreciation to the officers of the Copiague Fire District . A raffle followed with generous gifts from Copiague Fire District, Hendrickson, Fire Research and Waterway.

Correction: East Meadow will host the next meeting on March 9. .
