Meeting Reports The regular meeting of the Long Island Emergency Vehicle Technicians was held at the Copiague Fire District Headquarters. The food and the facility were first class. Our fifty some members in attendance felt very welcome.

The President, Bill D’Alessandro opened the meeting, announced the pledge to the flag and a minute of silence to remember our departed members and to think about our servicemen overseas. He asked Kit to read the minutes of the last meeting at the Bay Shore Fire Department on Deccember 10. A motion was made to accept the minutes - there were no objections – the motion passed.

Bill introduced Michael Zerafa, diagnostics Sales Developer from Snap-On Shopkey. Our members learned of a new program that captures the exact information they might need. The information look-up is based on vehicle components, so it matches the repair process. It eliminates the need for multiple searches by returning all relevant content in just one look-up – the answers needed are delivered to complete the job. Our members were totally interested and a good Q & A followed.

Barbara Connelly, our Treasurer, reminded the members that the 2014 dues should be sent in. She collected members’ sizes for the sweatshirts with the LIEVT logo. She told the membership how important it is to get firm commitments from fire departments to host a full days for training. Allison/Detroit can make a presentation on overall maintenance in February. We must have 30 – 35 members - the cost will be $50. per attendee.

The Vice-President, Danny Peluso, attended the FDSOA earlier this month. He talked about the classes he attended and shared some of the information he gathered. His feeling is that the insurance companies will be asking for certifications for the mechanics in the future. He discussed the test material in detail. He is in the process of assembling the test material to distr4ibute on discs to the members. He is working on digitally recording all repair information. He plans to demo it and will bring it to the membership. He discussed with the members the possibility of having Hale make a presentation to the group.

The President conducted a raffle with contributions from Nassau Fire, Mobile Fleet and Snap-on Shopkey.
