Meeting Report - Dec, 2010

The regular meeting of the Long Island Association of Emergency Vehicle Technicians was held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the North Bellmore Fire Department. The food provided by the fire department was excellent and enjoyed by all in attendance. There were approximately 30 members at the meeting. Dues were collected at the door and all members that had their dues paid up to date received a membership card. As of the close of the meeting there were 77 paid members for 2010 and 9 paid members for 2011.
The meeting was opened by the associations president, Steve Velazquez, at approximately 7:15 pm. He led the group in the pledge of allegiance. Paul Sailon read the minutes from the October meeting. A motion was made and then seconded to accept the minutes as read.
Paul Sailon, the treasurer then submitted his report to the group. As of 12/1/10, $4,649.51 was in the treasury. At the time of the meeting there were no pending expenditures.
Steve discussed the possibility of holding training classes for the members. He also discussed forming a committee to line up houses for meetings and arrange speakers.
Steve introduced Ed Melia of Odyssey Battery. Ed showed a movie on how the batteries were produced. Handouts were given to all the members to take with them. the lecture was very informative and was followed by a question and answer period.
A raffle was held with prizes given by Hendrickson, waterway fire hose testing and mobile fleet.
