Meeting Reports The regular meeting of LIEVT was held at the Bellport Fire Department on June 25, 2014. An excellent dinner was served. The attendees were made to feel welcome by Commissioner Dave Sponton, George Van Schaick and Steve Mackin.

The president, Bill D’Allesandro, was not in attendance. The vice-president, Danny Peluso opened the meeting. He led a pledge to the flag and asked for a minute of silence to remember our deceased members and our military. He asked Kit to read the minutes of the last meeting - April 23 at Babylon Village. . The minutes were accepted as read.

Danny Peluso introduced a guest from Atlantic Detroit Diesel, Matt Riello.

Ray Smeriglio, the speaker on Cutters Edge, was not able to attend due to a family emergency.

Danny talked about the training that is planned for the coming season. At the evening meeting on September 16, the whys of lighting and an overview of LED lighting will be discussed.

Two full days Sunday, October 26 and Monday, October 27 will be devoted to Waterous Pump. They will bring their roll out pump system. Joe from Westbury has volunteered to host the meeting.

In November there will be an evening NAPA brake class. There will be an ASE prep prior to the brake class. Danny asked the group if they had any requests for training. He then discussed the possibility of a fund raiser on a Sunday morning or a weeknight for the organization.

Many of our members reported getting their AC certificates in the mail.

Tom Rinelli of the New England Fire Equipment & Apparatus Corp discussed the purchase by Smeal of American La France and LTI. The Pennsylvania plant of LTI has reopened. The people have been hired back. They will do refurbishing as well as new sales, parts and repairs. Danny presented a framed certificate of recognition to Commissioner Dave Sponton.
