Meeting Report - Mar, 2009

The regular meeting of the LONG ISLAND EMERGENCY VEHICLE TECHNICIANS was held on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Bay Shore F D. Roger Robichaud, ex Captain of Bay Shore Hook and Ladder was in charge of the dinner – the volunteers included a professional chef – they certainly deserved the LIEVT chefs’ hats they were presented with.

At 8 PM the meeting was opened by the President, Steve Velazquez, who led the pledge to the flag. He asked Kit to read the minutes of the meeting at Elmont on February 4, 2009– the minutes were read and approved by a motion made by Frank Cherba and approved by Steve Velazquez.

Steve introduced a returning member, Doug Prefer who discussed AC Delco. Steve was happy to report that Chris Lo Preto plans to resume the EVT test preparation classes in May. As the interest of most members is training Steve talked about offers from Spartan Motors, ABS Brake Service, Fire Research and Delco.

Joe Daniele was not in attendance but offered to host the May meeting at the Wantagh F D. on May 13 or May 14.

Steve introduced Phil Scott of Mobile Fleet. He had an interesting display of their products. He, Danny Bittner, Tom McKay and Mary Ann Davis fielded questions from the attendees.

Plaques were presented to Phil Scott of Mobile Fleet, Frank Cherba and the Board of Commissioners of Bay Shore.

An exciting raffle was held with prizes from Fire News, Waterway Hose Testing, South Shore, Hendrickson, AC Delco, Mobile Fleet and Fire Research.
